reSolve: Directed Number

This sequence of two lessons explores directed numbers in real-world situations and games, abstracting understanding to applications using the number line. In the first lesson, students develop their understanding of directed numbers by engaging in a game involving hotel elevator floors. In the second lesson students represent solar temperatures of planets. Each lesson is outlined in detail including curriculum links, vocabulary, materials needed, sample answers, discussion points and student resources. This sequence is part of the reSolve: Mathematics by Inquiry program.
