Chance (Year 8)
This module from the AMSI 'The Improving Mathematics Education in Schools (TIMES) project' is for teachers who wish to take a deeper look at the topic of probability, and the concepts of independent and complementary events. There are sections that provide history and context for the topics, as well as exercises and examples of how to present and explain the concepts to students.
|Year level(s)||Year 8|

|Topics||Chance and probability|
|AC: Mathematics (V9.0) content descriptions||
Recognise that complementary events have a combined probability of one; use this relationship to calculate probabilities in applied contexts
Determine all possible combinations for 2 events, using two-way tables, tree diagrams and Venn diagrams, and use these to determine probabilities of specific outcomes in practical situations
