Fractions: Big ideas
A fraction is often explained as a way of expressing 'parts of a whole'. While the part-whole idea describes a common use of fractions, it is not the only meaning. This resource explains the part-whole idea and also explains fractions as a number positioned on a number line, as well as the use of fractions to express division.
